Tiken Jah Fakoly, the voice of Reggae in Africa. Tiken Jah Fakoly has always taken risks challenging the Disinformation: standing out as the spokesman for millions of young African people, joining the lineage of Peter Tosh and Bob Marley, ” the voice for those without voices.“ Fakoly’s call for revolution is directed to the youth, the hope of Africa. He challenges them to go to school and educate themselves against the corruption and war that continues to plague the continent, making it easy to understand why he is considered the voice of conscience in Africa through his music. Blending African rhythms and instrumentation with reggae beats and catchy lyrics, Fakoly is undeniably the people’s Rasta.
The Miami Reggae Festival and its organizers, Rockers Movement, have partnered with the non-profit organization TECHO to raise funds, food and awareness for residents living in poverty. The November 23rd event held at Coconut Grove’s Peacock Park will unify Miami’s diverse community through music while donating a portion of all ticket proceeds plus food collected at the event to aid Dade County residents living in poverty.
Performing along with Tiken Jah Fakoly at the Miami Reggae Festival are:
Stephen Marley (Jamaica)
Tiken Jah Fakoly (Africa’s Ivory Coast)
Black Slate & Carroll Thompson from the United Kingdom
Carroll Thompson (United Kingdom)
Don One Musical Showcase (Jamaica)
