The city of Johannesburg’s love affair with fashion will reach fever pitch this month as it hosts Africa Fashion Week.  South Africa is the continent’s undisputed fashion capital and all of Africa is heading to Johannesburg for Africa’s most influential fashion week.

New York Fashion Week is only the beginning of this season’s exhibitions, from Paris to Milan and as far as Johannesburg, Fashion Week has kicked off across the globe. Here are the top 5 emerging trends that we have seen on the runway this season worldwide.

Sheer

Sheer has proven to be the official trend of Spring/Summer 2012! This romantic, feminine material has been dominant on the runway all season from blouses to skirts and everything in between.

Patterns

Patterns, patterns, and more patterns! Whether you love the look or hate it, wearing multiple patterns at once has been a trend on the runway for quite a few seasons and judging from the recent Fashion Week presentations it seems like it will be here to stay. Juxtapose of prints matched with clean lines is amodern, sophisticated, and fun look to add to your wardrobe.

Floral Frenzy

Florals were displayed on various runways, whether it was head-to-toe floral or just one accent piece to accentuate the outfit.

Return of the Wide Leg Trouser

Last season designers like Dries Van Noten, and Derek Lam had many women saying goodbye to their skinny jeans. This season Chanel, Valentino, and Rachel Roy also said yes to the 70’s style wide leg trouser.

Color Trends

White is back as the new sexy color of next season!  Pastels also made an impact on the runway. The beautiful powder blue, corals, and mint green were seen in many collections.

Beauty Of The Dark Continent.

Just like every single one of the four million people who were forced to leave their families, cattle, and burning villages behind, she walked for hundreds of miles into the great unknown after the outbreak of civil war in Sudan in 1985, not aware if she would ever return to the place she had always called home, Read More...

DR. OLAJIDE WILLIAMS 'THE HIP HOP DOC’

“Switch it up/Put some water in the cup,” the man standing onstage alongside old-school hip-hop legends Doug E. Fresh and Artie Green raps with the swagger of a new school artist.
