The recently coronated Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, a supreme leader of the Yoruba people of Nigeria will visit New York City on June 10, 2016 as part of the King’s US Tour and pledge to unify all Yoruba people.

During his visit, the Ooni will visit the United Nations and the African Burial Ground Monument before the concluding Town Hall meeting at Columbia University on Friday evening.

His Imperial Majesty considers his New York City visit as not only historical, but an open door for the continued orchestration of his mantra of peace, unity and leadership in this generation across the globe.

The Town Hall event will include a panel on the Yoruba influence on the Black Diaspora and Western culture, most visible recently in the release of Beyonce’s Lemonade. The Panel will feature Professor Rowland Abiodun, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Busayo Olupona and Desiree Gordon and will highlight the preservation of Yoruba tradition in the Diaspora in African fashion, Candomble and the Sacred Art of the Ori as well as discussions on repatriation and Haiti’s recent efforts to join the African Union.
Tickets are available for the UN visit and Columbia University Town Hall here.
